Adriano Willaert's Musica Nova (1559)

Of all the music published in the 16th century, this collection of sacred and secular music is one of the most influential and groundbreaking.  Willaert, among the most talented of the oltremontani, was hired as the direct of music at San Marco in Venice in 1527, and is credited with influencing and inspiring the 'high Renaissance' style of of Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Palestrina, Victoria, and many others.
